I usually ignore many of the youtube links posted here but I'm going to post one anyway.

This is of a collaring ceremony. I ran across this on youtube while looking at a different video. At first I thought it was a joke.
I really don't want to stir up a lot of negative stuff about these people because I so realize this is apparently what works for these folks. I just am well, embarassed when I watch this.

Sun, April 27, 2008 - 6:40 PMah youth. I'd imagine that they'll look back at this and be a little embarassed themselves. I must admit, the paused video game in the background really is the cincher, that and the comments from the guy filming.
Hopefully they'll learn some positive things through this experience.

Sun, April 27, 2008 - 9:50 PMShe's hot, he looks kind of like a joker, and his friends seem really...kink neutral. I wouldn't quite call it friendly as they seem pretty irreverent. I actually had a ceremony a little like that once, but I had friends and family present. We had a cake, a ceremony and stuff, and a contract. It was pretty nice. I might have the video around here somewhere too...I suppose if I found it I could youtube it too.

Re: What do you think about this?
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 9:32 AM-_-;; Yeah, but ceremonies and stuff are important to some people.. even if they can't at least turn off the TV in the room and dress up a bit before doing them. Master's wife wanted to "adopt" one of her friend as her daughter and had to do this whole big thing which I asked to opt out of because official stuff like that really annoys me.
When Master collared me he pulled the collar our of the box, told me to stand up, put it on me, and we hugged, then kept watching Dr Who or whatever was on at the time. We both knew how we felt, emotionally I was already collared.
Weddings and stuff even sort of bother me with how much people spend on them and all the bridezilla stuff. You are still the same people/couple you were the day before, you just now have some papers to prove it.

Re: What do you think about this?
Tue, April 29, 2008 - 12:40 PMWell at least they had people in the room who supported them, even though it was a BIT casual to me.....to them i am sure it was a beautiful moment. And yes, the paused video game in the background was the icing on the cake. LOL My main observation was that the new Master was a bit introverted and the slave had more control over the ceremony. To each their own. -

Re: What do you think about this?
Tue, April 29, 2008 - 5:25 PMI thought the TV was on the weather channel or something--games makes it worse...and it's in a hotel room..nice.
I have to say that Master and I have done two collaring ceremonies. He put both together and both were each amazing and moving events. It IS like a wedding to us since our marriage vows were just for the piece of paper we needed. We took the collarings extremely seriously since it IS a big deal to us and is something not to be treated lightly--at least in my opinion.
I wonder what these kids are up to now. At least she's young so she can deal with her Master's friends who really didn't have a lot of class.
There was another collaring on youtube--British folks. Before they start one guy says something like "I've got a fag in me mouth--it's like a redneck wedding" or something close.

Re: What do you think about this?
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 7:56 PMi didn't get to see the vid, but i have seen enough in my time to get a pretty good idea of it just from the descriptions here...
All in all, there are as many levels of formality as there are people.
i noticed some folks here who aren't into formal ceremonies at all-- and that works for them.
Others of us need or want to demarcate an event with something out of the ordinary or as an emotional "highlight" in our lives.
We hear all the time about various levels of BDSM intensity and sophistication. It sounded like these were just some young unsophisticated people who really liked the idea of putting a collar on a girl.
It detracts from the over all social pool ideology of how sacred a collar is to some of us, but there is nothing we can do about it, anymore than some of the folks of a more religious bent being upset over last years Folsom St Fair cover art..
we do not legislate icons and the trappings of traditional ceremonies and riutals.
So- Youtube is the place we extroverts are putting everything from our kids first poop to our last will and testaments, and we are gonna run across a lot of levels of BDSM on it as well.
It reminds me a *little* tiny bit of how i felt when i first got into the PD..
up until then, the only homes i had really been into were the ones of family and friends-- people i had self selected to hang out with and with whom i had similar tastes...
but while working the streets, i got to go into thousands of homes... and some of the ways people lived- and considered NORMAL- appalled me! Not just dirt of mess... but nothing on the walls at all (no pictures, no NOTHING), sheets instead of curtains, having kids sleeping 3-4 to a room when one or more was on the floor... a whole list of things comes to mind. It was, to me, truly frightening just how far off of MY norm these folks were living-- and yet they were perfectly fine with it. i often wondered how they could watch TV sitcoms and such and not sort of compare their own homes to those on TV, or go into Target and KMart and just ignore whole sections of the store... lol....
It's a good thing we are allowed to self select our friends, and be discriminating about who we share intimacies with--- and we don't have to live with the people in that video (or most of the ones that show up on Judge Judy!).
